EASTLAKE TITANS GOLF CAPTUREs 2015 MESA LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP - FOURTH CONSECUTIVE TITLE AND UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE PLAY - 10-0
The Eastlake Titans Boys Golf Team ended the 2015 spring golf season in very strong fashion, going undefeated in league play en route to capturing its fourth consecutive Mesa League Boys Golf Title and finishing atop the entire Metro Conference. With most of the players having to balance out their hectic schedules - especially for some of the sophomores and juniors on the team who had to find a way to balance their A.P./Honors course loads and volunteer commitments along with the demands bestowed upon a high school golfer - this season marked a remarkable display of a complete team effort led by competent coaching. Sheer determination and hard work by the entire team resulted in success once again.

- Eastlake Titans Representing School at CIF Golf Championship: Jacky Ahn (11), Armando Castro (11), Matthew Modelo (11), Troy Nelson (11), Jerome Nicdao (11), Davis Harris (10)
- Team Most Valuable Player: Matthew Modelo (11)
The entire team had a great time competing as well as "bonding whether walking the links during practice rounds with teammates or making new friends from other schools during the heat of the
battle. The boys are already looking forward to next year. And, because the team carried no seniors this year, next year's team looks to be a force to be reckoned with," stated Coach
Barrett. Finally, with some of the strong skills demonstrated by the stable of solid freshman golfers - Jumpei Hanaoka, Cal Johnson, Sam Lee and Desi Rodelas - it certainly appears that
Eastlake Golf will continue to thrive in the years to come.

Boys titans golf clinch 1st place finish at LIONS GOLF TOURNAMENT IN TEMECULA, CA - rEMAIN UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE, NON-LEAGUE AND TOURNEY PLAY THROUGH SEVEN MATCHES

The Boys Titans golf team finished at the top of the leader board after playing 18 holes on a difficult track in Temecula. Cross Creek Golf Course, which is home course to many of the regional teams in the field, is a challenge to play with varying elevation changes, strong cross winds and speedy greens. "It was a great team effort today," stated head golf coach, Robert Barrett. "Each player contributed to this huge victory. Playing against almost twenty teams and coming out as the champion is an outstanding achievement that these fine young men should be very proud of."
Matthew Modelo (11), who at one point was four-under through ten holes of play, led the team in scoring and finished in fourth place overall.

titans golfers ready to defend league title

The 3-time defending Eastlake Boys Golf Team is ready to secure its fourth consecutive conference championship title starting with their first golf match today at the Eastlake Country Club home course. The match is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. against visiting Steele Canyon. Steele Canyon has proven to be a strong opponent in recent years.
Returning starters instrumental to the Titan's success since their freshman years - Jacky Ahn and Matthew Modelo, both now junior class men - look to continue to anchor what appears to be another solid team led by Coach Bob Barrett. Modelo, the team's MVP the last two years, was also crowned the Mesa League Conference Player of the Year last year. Fellow junior, Troy Nelson, is ready to step up to the challenge this year as well. Another junior, Armando Castro, who played for the Titans as a freshman, returns to the team after attending a different school last year and is ready to contribute. And, yet another junior class man, who is new to town, Jerome Nicdao, has proven his worth during team tryouts and is ready to make an immediate impact to a team that already appears to be the team to beat in the Mesa League and all of the South County. A solid group of up and coming underclassmen, round out the team.

Last year's team shirt for returners and Royal Blue or White shirts for new players.
All players not involved in the match on Monday must report by 3:00 p.m. to the golf course for practice.
